Spring is here and it is a great time to get out and play golf at Wachesaw East! Golf season brings a buzz to the Grand Strand each and every year as everyone prepares for all the visiting golfers that come to our area to experience great golf all over the area. This is the time for golf courses to put their best foot forward and give golfers a great product.
The management and staff here have worked tirelessly over the off season to get the golf course in the best possible playing condition for our visitors to enjoy. And this year they did a tremendous job! PGA Head Professional, Mike DeLuca could not be happier.
”The crew here did an amazing job this winter. We had a tough year last year with winter-kill and getting the golf course through that,” said DeLuca. “What they have done with the course since last summer is incredible! Golfers are going to love what they see when they tee it up this spring.”
From tee to green the grounds got a “make-over” so to speak. Starting with the removal of some trees in strategic places around the course allowing for more airflow and sunshine to feed the grass. This has made a huge difference in how the golf course looks. Not only has it improved the agronomy of some holes but it has also given some of the hole a bit of a different look.
The green complexes got some extra attention this off-season as well. Many bunkers were cleaned-up and made into better shape. The collars around some greens have been trimmed to make them compliment the putting surfaces the way they should be. These touch ups should bring many positive comments from golfers.
Everyone here at Wachesaw East is extremely excited and looking forward to a great 2109 spring golf season. It is going to be a fun spring!
